Barcelona Has Two Summer Seasons
• Comfortable Season: May, June, and the beginning of July.
During this time, you have more freedom with your wardrobe. It’s usually warm, but not too hot, and you can go for more dressed-up or layered looks. Early mornings can even feel a bit chilly, so jackets or blazers can work perfectly.
• Hot Season: Mid-July through early September (around the 10th).
This is the real heat! It’s best to stick to natural, breathable fabrics like linen and cotton. You’ll want to avoid heavy materials—trust me, sweating through a photo session isn’t fun.

What Time of Day Works Best?
• Morning sessions are the best—fewer people, cooler temperatures, and a calmer vibe. Even in August, if you book a sunrise shoot around 7–8 AM, it’s still manageable and way more comfortable, especially for kids!
• Evening shoots can work too, but in July and August, it stays pretty warm until late. If we shoot in the evening during those months, it’s better to choose open, breathable outfits that allow you to move easily and stay cool.

What Outfits Work Best for Summer Family Photos?
1. Stick with Light Colors
Light tones always work well, especially in summer. Whites, beiges, pastels—they reflect the sun and give a fresh, clean look on camera
2. Go for Coordinated, Not Matching
You don’t need to wear identical outfits. Instead, think about coordinating colors and styles. Here are some ideas:
• High-contrast looks: Red and black or red and white. They look bold and stylish.
• Nautical theme: Stripes, white pants or shorts, blue and white combos—perfect for coastal vibes!
• Classic basics: White t-shirts with denim shorts or jeans. This works especially well for casual beach or park shoots.
3. Dress for the Location
• If we’re shooting in urban spots like Sagrada Família or in the Gothic Quarter, go for a more polished, slightly dressier look.
• For natural locations, like the beach or parks, casual outfits in earthy tones work beautifully
4. Avoid Super Bright Prints
Unless it’s someone’s birthday and they’re the star of the shoot, it’s better to skip loud prints or neon colors.
Aim for a monochrome palette or a two-tone outfit.
For example:
• Neutral greens and beiges
• Soft greens with white or brown
• Earthy tones that blend beautifully with Barcelona’s natural light and architecture
You can mix and match within the palette—someone wears green, someone else wears beige, and another family member could add in white. The goal is to look cohesive, not identical. This creates a sense of unity and harmony in your photos.
5. Linen and Cotton Are Your Best Friends
Especially in July and August! Light, breathable fabrics will keep you (and the kids) comfortable.
6. Florals Can Work Too
Flower prints are lovely for summer shoots, but they need to be chosen carefully. Stick to subtle, soft floral designs that complement the overall color scheme, rather than compete with it.
A Quick Note About Kids
Kids get hot and grumpy quickly in summer. For them, comfortable, lightweight outfits are a must. And again, early morning sessions make a huge difference! Everyone stays cooler and happier.
