My Recommendations: Where to Eat Delicious and Healthy Food in Barcelona

Honest Greens

This is one of my favorite places for fresh and healthy meals. Their menu features a variety of options, from grilled fish to vegetable salads, all made with high-quality ingredients. What makes Honest Greens even better is its prime locations all over Barcelona. For example their restaurant on Barceloneta Beach allows to enjoy your meal with a stunning sea view. They’re open all day without breaks, making it convenient to visit anytime. 

Tip: Try their roast beef paired with a fresh vegetable salad — it’s absolutely delicious!

Cafe De Finca 

If you love coffee as much as I do, this café near the Cathedral is a must-visit. They serve some of the best coffee in Barcelona, alongside an amazing breakfast menu. These guys import and roast coffee themselves here near Barcelona, so their coffee is always super fresh. I highly recommend their CDF breakfast with salmon and eggs. It’s both flavorful and filling. Don’t forget to try their signature coffee — it’s one of my favorites.

Flax & Kale 

For vegetarians or those looking for pescatarian options, Flax & Kale is a great choice. Their menu offers a mix of creative, healthy dishes, including fish-based meals and delicious desserts. Also this is a very well designed place which is nice to have your meal in.

Puertecillo Born 

If you’re in the mood for fresh seafood, Puertecillo Born is a must-visit. This spot combines the experience of picking fresh seafood with having it cooked perfectly for you on the spot. From mussels and oysters to fish and mariscos, everything is prepared to perfection. I must tell this is not a fancy restaurant, but more of a canteen type of place. Hovewer we usually go there with my family to munch on seafood because it´s fresh and very affordable. Here in Barcelona we like our food cheap and good!

Note: Their hours vary, so plan your visit between 11:00-16:00 or 19:00 — midnight.

El Nacional

For a unique dining experience, head to El Nacional. This historic venue offers a selection of bars and restaurants, each specializing in a different type of cuisine. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet welcoming, making it a great place for an evening out. They have pretty good oyster bar with fresh Asturian oysters and cava, so don´t miss out!

General Considerations about food in Barcelona

• Lunch time is usually between 2p.m. and 4p.m., after that your chances to have lunch significantly decrease, because they are closing kitchens until 8p.m.-ish. The fancier the place is, the more chance they would keep to this schedule.
  
  
• Do call in advance to try and book a table, otherwise you´ll end up queueing for 20-40 minutes in popular places. They usually speak English in Barcelona restaurants, so no worries if you don´t speak Spanish or Catalan.
  
  
• Check or ask for Menu del Dia to get yourself a lunch menu which is usually cheaper than ordering plates a la carte.
