As a photographer in Barcelona working together with a professional videographer, our team creates elegant photo and video stories for couples who want more than standard travel pictures. A pre-wedding shoot in Barcelona can become part of your wedding story, and it can also stay as a beautiful memory of your time together in the city.
Why couples choose a love story session before the wedding day
An engagement or love story session gives you the chance to celebrate this period in a calm and meaningful way. Unlike the wedding day itself, there is more time to enjoy the experience, move between beautiful locations, and create content that feels personal. Some couples want their images and video to look cinematic and refined. Some want something more relaxed and natural. Some want Barcelona itself to be a strong part of the story. Others want to combine the city with the sea or with nature. This is exactly why preparation matters. Before the shoot, we discuss the style, rhythm, mood, and level of posing that feels right for you.
How we usually plan photo and video sessions
If you are booking both photo and video services in Barcelona, one of the most important things to decide is how many locations you want to include.
For a complete and cinematic result, I usually recommend planning at least half a day, around 3 to 4 hours, and choosing a minimum of 3 locations. This gives us enough variety to build a visual story and capture different moods. It also creates space for movement, transitions, and more natural moments between posed shots. When a couple wants a proper pre-wedding shoot in Barcelona, this timing usually gives the best result.
Our team always includes both photographer and videographer, so the story is created from two perspectives at the same time. We work carefully, without rushing, and we coordinate everything on location if the timing needs to be adjusted.
An engagement story in Barcelona
If you want a fully urban session, I usually recommend choosing 3 locations within the city. In summer, I often suggest doing the shoot at sunrise, when the light is softer and the city feels calmer. A typical route might begin at Montjuïc, where we meet around 7:00 to 7:30 in the morning. This is a beautiful place for the first part of the story: quiet light, elegant views, and a romantic atmosphere for the opening shots. After that, we usually move to Sagrada Família.
The light there is often better a little later in the morning, so timing around 8:30 to 9:30 works especially well. This location gives the story a very iconic Barcelona feeling and works beautifully for both photography and video. The final part can take place in the Gothic Quarter or near the fountain in Ciutadella Park.
These locations work well later in the morning and add a different mood to the story. There may be more people around, but that atmosphere can also feel authentic and unique to Barcelona.
If you want to combine Barcelona with nature or the sea
Some couples want their love story to include both the city and a more open, romantic landscape. In this case, I usually recommend choosing one location in Barcelona and one location outside the city, either on another day or later the same day for sunset.
Places we often recommend include Montserrat, Costa Brava, Marimurtra Botanical Garden, and the long beach of Castelldefels. These locations create a very different atmosphere and can make the story feel even more personal. They are especially beautiful for couples who want a softer, more emotional, or more cinematic setting.
This type of session works very well when you want your images and film to show different sides of your relationship: the elegance of the city, the warmth of the Mediterranean coast, or the calm energy of a natural landscape.

Natural guidance and comfortable posing
Before the session, we always discuss the pace of the shoot and the kind of story you want to create. Some couples prefer more direction and posing support. Others want something more natural, with only light guidance that helps them look their best on camera. In every case, we work with the couple throughout the shoot and give gentle instructions when needed.
The final result depends partly on how comfortable you feel in front of the camera, but it also depends on how the session is guided. This is why our approach is always careful, attentive, and adapted to each couple. Most people do not need to know how to pose in advance. That is our role.
We observe your dynamic, notice your reactions, and shape the session around your energy as a couple.
A comfortable experience matters
A beautiful session is not only about the final gallery or the final film. It is also about the experience itself. When you choose DiaFoto services, you can expect a process that feels calm, well-organized, and personal. We never rush couples through the session.
We give each part of the shoot the time it needs. If something changes during the day or the timing shifts slightly, we coordinate everything on location and adapt smoothly. Comfort, trust, and great communication are a very important part of creating elegant and emotional results.
For many couples visiting Barcelona, this session becomes one of the highlights of their trip. It is a chance to enjoy the city together while creating something meaningful and lasting.
