This is where the true charm of Barcelona lies: a city where cultural life and seaside relaxation live side by side. You can spend the morning in museums and the evening with your feet in the sand. And if you want to go beyond the city, within just 30 minutes to two hours you’ll find beach resorts with their own character — perfect for couples, families, and anyone who wants more than just a city break.

When to Swim
The beach season usually begins in May and often lasts until early October — sometimes even mid-October in the best years. My favorite time is July, August, and the first half of September. The sea is warm, the light is golden, and in early September the crowds thin out, leaving beaches almost empty.

Beaches Worth Visiting
Castelldefels — Gava Mar
A long sandy stretch with everything you need: lifeguards, beach cafés, showers, and parking. It’s family-friendly, with several hotels nearby. A perfect place to spend the whole day by the sea.

Sitges and the Costa Daurada
Sitges is photogenic, lively, and full of charm with its coves and promenade. Further along the Costa Daurada, towns like Vilanova and Salou offer wide sandy beaches, shallow water for children, and many family hotels. Nearby, the PortAventura theme park adds an extra reason to visit.

Costa Brava
Blanes, Tossa de Mar, and Platja d’Aro feel like another world: crystal-clear water, rocky cliffs, pine forests, and scenic coastal trails. It’s the kind of place where you can stay for a week and let the days flow with swims, sunsets, and quiet walks.

Tips for the Best Beach Photos
• Time of day: Sunrise and sunset bring soft light and fewer people.
• With children: One location is usually enough — it keeps the day relaxed and stress-free.
• Outfits: Light fabrics and natural tones look beautiful against the sea and move gracefully in the wind.
• Comfort: Choose beaches with showers and cafés to make breaks between photos easier.

Capturing Your Story
As a photographer and videographer in Barcelona and Catalonia, I often travel to the beaches of Sitges, Tossa de Mar, Platja d’Aro, and Blanes for family shoots, romantic sessions, engagements, and pre-wedding stories.
If you’d like to make your holiday more than just a memory — if you want photographs or a short film that capture the real atmosphere of your trip — book a session with me. Together, we’ll find the right light, the right setting, and create something that feels true to your time by the sea.
